Justuno Promotion Wizard

The Problem

Justuno's design canvas was the only way clients could build a promotion, and it was slow and confusing enough that a significant number of people never finished what they started. Clients were abandoning designs mid-process, which meant fewer published promotions, fewer results, and a worse experience with the product overall. A full redesign of the canvas was in the planning phase and was proving to be a huge undertaking so we prioritized coming up with a solution to make it easier in the meantime. The problem I needed to solve was getting clients to a finished, published promotion without needing to fight through it.

The Work

Before designing anything, I worked backward from the abandonment problem to figure out the fewest number of decisions a client actually needed to make to get to a published promotion. Every additional step in the original canvas was a chance for someone to lose patience and leave. I mapped out the full decision tree first, what absolutely had to be chosen versus what could be defaulted or simplified, and used that map as the blueprint for the wizard itself.Choose where the display shows, desktop or mobile

The harder technical problem was underneath the steps rather than between them. Rather than collecting a client's selections and assembling a promotion only after they finished, the wizard built the promotion live as they moved through it. Every choice updated an actual, functioning promotion in real time instead of a list of attributes waiting to be compiled. That live build is what made the final customization step possible. By the time a client reached editing, they weren't starting from scratch, they were adjusting a real promotion already in front of them, swapping in brand colors, coupon codes, and images on something that already worked.

The visual design had to live inside Justuno's existing interface and theme library rather than introduce a new one, since the priority was solving the abandonment problem quickly, not redesigning the brand.

The Outcome

The shift was immediate. Designs that previously sat unfinished in client accounts were turning into published promotions at a noticeably higher rate. The wizard became the default path for most clients building a new promotion, and it held that role while a full platform redesign was being planned and built behind it.
